Introduction
Through the Reach-Out Project entitled, Sathe Achi — meaning “We Are with You”— the Mission reaffirms its commitment to standing beside the vulnerable with love, dignity, and compassion, translating the ideal of selfless service into meaningful action. Begun in 2012 on the auspicious occasion of Durga Maha Sasthi, the purpose of the “Sathe Achi” program of Swami Debananda Mission is to extend compassionate care to those who are elderly, disabled, physically weak, or otherwise unable to arrange their own meals or take care of themselves. Recognising the vulnerability of these individuals, Sadguru Swami Debananda Maharaj initiated this humanitarian endeavour to ensure that no one is left hungry, neglected, or deprived of essential care. Under this program, beneficiaries receive daily midday meals and medical assistance at their doorsteps, bringing nourishment, healthcare, and a sense of security to those who need them most.
Under this program, food is cooked daily in the Ashram and then delivered directly to their homes, regardless of weather conditions. The aim is simple yet profound: to stand beside those who have no one to support them, and to uphold the Ashram’s guiding principle that service is the highest religion (সেবাই পরম ধর্ম / सेवा ही परम धर्म).
At present, the “Sathe Achi” programme operates through two branch ashrams: one at Kenjera, P.O. Dighalgram, District Bankura, and the other at Ichhlabad, P.O. Sripally, District Purba Bardhaman, West Bengal. Through these centres, the Mission continues to extend daily meals, healthcare support, and compassionate care to vulnerable individuals in need.
